Jess Hope.

Writer, Content Editor, Podcaster.

Hello, hi.

Hello! I’m an award-winning content creator, journalist and marketer with over a decade’s worth of industry experience, working both in-house and freelance at various global brands. I specialise in live entertainment, music, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and topics surrounding mental health.

In 2018, I co-founded Bad Seed, a creative content agency based in Melbourne, Australia. Built to service the music and entertainment industries, we work with a wealth of clients across digital marketing and design, social media, paid media, videography, photography, PR and branding.

In 2017, my independent podcast and positive mental health initiative, Don’t Fret Club, received The Unified Grant, awarded by the Unified Music Group. The project was also chosen for The American Express Music Backers Grant Program in 2019. It joined the Play On Radio radio network in the same year, now airing twice weekly online.

In 2016, I received 'Best Vlogger and Podcast' at the UK Blog Awards for my time editing Ticketmaster's consumer-facing blog.

Got a project that you need content or copy for? Simply in search of a digital specialist? Below is a little taste of what I do best and how we might be able to collaborate.

I launched the Don't Fret Club podcast in 2016 to help empower positive conversations around mental health in the music industry. In 2017, it received The Unified Grant and in 2019, it joined the Play On Radio network. I've gone on to help other brands launch and manage their own podcasts and audio content. Got an idea that you want to commit to audio? I can help.

My music reviews have been featured in Kerrang! Magazine, Alternative Press, Rock Sound, Gigwise, DIY Magazine and Upset magazine, among others. I also edited Ticketmaster's consumer blogs between Jan 2015 - Aug 2018, writing daily music content.

corporate communications

I took my skills as a copywriter into the world of corporate communications during my time at Ticketmaster, managing media releases, internal comms and all client-facing comms.

Kerrang! Magazine

I was a freelance writer for Kerrang! Magazine for almost six years between Sep 2012 – March 2018. During my time with the leading music title, I was responsible for producing reviews, interviews, features and providing office cover for editors. I also took over the Kerrang! Youtube channel during 2014 festival season, interviewing bands at Slam Dunk, Download, Sonisphere and Reading Festival, as well as backstage at the Kerrang! Awards and a handful of one-off interviews in between. In this role, I was tasked organising, filming, presenting, editing and uploading each video on site at each event. Interviews included Limp Bizkit, You Me At Six, Anthrax, Fall Out Boy and many, many more.

Beauty BLOGS

I have crafted copy and SEO-focused blogs for many major beauty and lifestyle brands, including Dove, Persil and Tesco.

As Deputy Editor for Tesco Beauty & Lifestyle channels (UK), I was responsible for campaign strategy, social media management, consulting, reporting and editorial production between May – Dec 2014. I introduced an identifiable tone of voice across the Tesco Living channels, focusing on insight-led thinking and timely content, which engaged new and existing customers across multiple platforms.

During these four years, I was responsible for all creative content, including all seasonal campaigns, editorial partnerships, consumer blogs, client-facing portals and social media platforms. Key content campaigns in Australia included Download Festival Melbourne, Adele, Ed Sheeran, The Book of Mormon, Pop-up Globe, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and many more.

podcasts & zines

I've been creating popular podcasts since 2016, when I initially founded my own podcast 'Don't Fret Club'. This has led to a number of commissions, creating unique podcasts for brands. I've also created zines to promote and repurpose podcast content.

My background in journalism, marketing and communications means I'm uniquely placed to help artists and brands approach media with a fresh perspective. I produce unforgettable press releases, service music to media (including radio), provide full reports and analytics, and assist with corresponding content and posting strategies across social media.

Band Bios

I combine my experience as a music journalist and copywriter to create unique and memorable artist bios. I'm happy to pen something entirely new or rework existing copy to achieve fresh and inspiring results that will make a lasting mark on fans and media.

interviews and features

I'm a proficient interviewer who takes a unique approach to every interview or feature. My interview technique has been praised for being unassuming, detailed, informed and well researched.

lifestyle + mental health

I have contributed career, lifestyle and mental health-themed pieces to The Huffington Post, Marie Claire and others. Running a not-for-profit positions me well to write long-form and thoroughly-researched lifestyle articles.
